“Going Global” Valentine for the Pals Blog Hop

2016badge-lagoon

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for January 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month we are showcasing projects using Stampin’ Up! products featuring a theme from any of the following: Valentine’s Day; Thinking of You; Get Well; or Sympathy. We hope you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

I decided to make Valentine’s Day the focus of my project and used the Going Global stamp set to make a card for my husband.   The luscious Perfectly Artistic  DSP is one of the FREE items you can choose from the Sale-a-bration Catalog when you purchase $50 in Stampin’ Up! products.

I love how the blue swirls of this design looks like water.  After embossing the DSP with the World Traveler Embossing Folder, I dragged my Smoky Slate Ink Pad across the paper to add definition.

Jan 2016 Blog Hop

Stamp Set – Going Global, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Cardstock – Basic Gray, Silver Foil, Whisper White, Perfectly Artistic DSP
Ink – Smoky Slate, Tempting Turquoise,
Accessories – World Traveler Embossing Folder, Deco Label Framelits, Big Shot, Magnetic Platform, Stampin’ Trimmer, Owl Builder Punch (small heart), Fine Tip Glue Pen, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive

Below are some photos showing different steps of my card.

Jan 2016 Blog Hop Basic Gray

Corners of my 2 X 2-12/” cardstock were punched with the Curvy Corner Trio Punch.

Sentiment stamped and cut out with Deco Label Framelit is on top of the Basic Gray mat.

If you are like me, you don’t use Foil paper as a full mat – it’s just too pretty to hide.  I’ve been ‘hoarding’ my foil paper for just that reason.  See my solution below.

Jan 2016 Blog Hop Silver Foil Frame

I cut out the inside of my Silver Foil mat using my Stampin’ Trimmer. That gave me a 3-1/4″ X 4-14″ piece of foil to use on another project.

  1. Wow, the embossing on that DSP is so cool. I just ordered the DSP with my recent order and can;t wait to try it. Thanks for inspiring me. Hope you are staying warm!

    • Thanks Michelle! I need to try that technique on a different DSP and embossing folder combination. I love to inspire others – that’s why I started Deb’s Stampin’ Grounds! ?

  2. Hey Roomie….OVER THE TOP on this one! Love it – Your tips and tricks are soooo appreciated…great card…great post! (It snowed last night….a wee bit)

  3. The embossing looks pretty amazing with that swirl Designer Series Paper! And what a great tip to save paper when matting.

  4. Debra, I didn’t know I needed this embossing folder or DSP until I saw your beautiful card!

    • This product suite was first on my order! I LOVE all of it. Glad to be an “enabler” for you. Other people have convinced me that I ‘need’ something after I see their great projects, too. 🙂 Stampers do that for each other! LOL!

  6. love the use of the emboss folder and DSP together and your sentiment!

  7. You make dragging an ink pad over embossed paper look so easy and cool… I have tried but never have managed the same great look!! I guess I just need to visit you (wish!). Great masculine card, Debra!!

    • I did drag my ink pad over the embossed paper several times to get the finished look of my card. I’d love to have you visit me sometime! It’s always fun to stamp with someone else. 🙂

  8. Grooovy! I love it! The DSP adds such an extra dimension to your design.

  9. Fantastic! That DSP is perfect for this embossing folder!
