Celebrating Jess Simonis – Always in My Heart…

Happy Birthday to my Granddaughter, Jessalyn Simonis!

She was born on Christmas Day, 14 years ago.  Last year I posted her birthday card on my blog here.  When you read that post you will find out why I was hoping that she would google her name and find ny card.  I’m happy to report that not only did she see my card and blog post, Jessalyn contacted me by email a few weeks ago. You have no idea how happy that makes me!

Now on to the card…and then a bit more about Jessalyn (or Jess Simonis as she introduced herself to me),

I stamped the image from the “Beautiful Moments” stamp set.  This is one of the stamps that will be available on Jan. 3, 2020 when the January to June 2020 Mini Catalog is released.  After stamping the image with Staz On ink on watercolor paper, I used the Aquapainter and a variety of ink pads to color it in.  Then I made it into a shaker card – an extra special card for an extra special 14 year old!

Here is the inside of the card.  The verse from the “Sending You Thoughts” stamp set was Heat Embossed to coordinate with the heat embossed sentiment on the front of the card.

I can never have too many stamp sets that have inside verses for cards.  You know what’s better than finding a great stamp set with both sentiments and inside verses?  Getting that stamp set for FREE!

I was so happy to hear from my granddaughter after she saw the blog post with the card I made for her birthday last year.  If you haven’t read that post, you might not know that I haven’t seen her since she was 15 months old.

I was thrilled when she sent me a newsy email to let me know that she saw my blog post and gave me a snippet of her life story since I last saw her.  I found out that I have another granddaughter (Jessalyn’s sister) whom I have never met!

I hope Jessalyn received the email that I sent back to her;  I hope that we can keep in touch now that we have reconnected.  Jess Simonis – if you didn’t get the email, it may have been intercepted by one of your parents.  I won’t ask you to do anything without their permission;  I’ll be here whenever you are able to reach out to me again.

It’s a lot for a young lady to process, finding an entire family that hasn’t been a part of her life for as long as she can remember.  So to Jessalyn I want to say that you sound like an AMAZING young lady!

Take the time you need to respond in your own way.  Your grandfather and I can’t wait until we can see you again in person, we have been loving you and praying for you all of these years!
