Wood Christmas Ornaments Stampin’ Style

Did you know that you can stamp on materials other than paper?  We are blessed to have our children & grandchildren coming to celebrate Christmas in our new home this year!  I needed to create some tags for our Christmas stockings.

Last fall my husband had some branches from a tree on our land in Wisconsin.  He cut slices of wood and sanded them for me to use as a craft.  To ensure that the wood won’t crack he treated it will a special solution and let it dry.  Yesterday,  I stamped them to create Christmas ornaments that will double as tags when they are pinned to a stocking.

I used the Grassy Grove stamp set for the trees, a past Paper Pumpkin stamp set for the sentiment, & hand wrote the names and date with a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.

After they were stamped, I put a pencil mark where I wanted my husband to drill a hole.  He is a gem because he stopped what he was doing and drilled the holes for me.  I had some retired Stampin’ Up! hemp twine to thread through the holes & I think it gives the ornament a perfect rustic look.

Best of all, it is a project that my husband & I did together, and the ornament will be a remembrance for everyone.  A remembrance of our land which we call “Westwood”.  That’s our playground where we live with our camper in the summer when we aren’t traveling & where we have 4 wheelers, UTV’s to ride on mowed trails, apple trees and plenty of wildlife to watch.

It’s a busy week with last minute preparations for Christmas.  I want to do a little baking but not too much because my daughter asked to bake with me once she arrives.  Still have a few gifts to wrap and some groceries to get.

Our new home will be full next week once everyone arrives and my heart will be too!   It’s been a few years since we’ve all been together for Christmas, so this will be an extra special Christmas for all of us.
