Anything with Wings – Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals’ June  Blog Hop. We’re so glad you’re here because we made some great projects using “Anything with Wings” .

You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Today’s card showcases a technique that I haven’t done for quite some time – Embedded Embossing!  In the card below, I chose to use circles that are embedded in the cardstock using the Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder.

Stampin-Up-Lilypad-Lake-embedded-embossing-technique-Swirls-Curls-Embossing-Folder-Debra-Simonis-StampinupStamp set – Lilypad Lake, Itty Bitty Greetings
Cardstock – Balmy Blue, Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, Pool Party, Soft Seafoam, Whisper White
Ink – Momento Black
Accessories – Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder, Lakeside Dies, Stampin’ Blends – Flirty Flamingo,Granny Apple Green, Highland Heather, Linen Thread, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive

Embedded Embossing Technique – It’s easy to do!
  1. Adhere punched shapes or die cuts to cardstock (I used a glue stick)
  2. Emboss cardstock with your favorite embossing folder
  3. That’s all there is to it!

Imagine the creative possiblities when you vary the embedded shapes and/or embossing folders!

More inspiration awaits!
Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created!

Interlocking Frames & Varied Vases

This card features my go to summer colors – Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight & Melon Mambo.  I never seem to tire of that color combination.

Stamp Set – Varied Vases
Ink –  Bermuda Bay, Momento
Cardstock – Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Whisper White
Accessories – Layering Squares Framelits, Vase Builder Punch, Watercolor Pencils, Blender Pen, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue

Stamping Tip:  Create Interlocking Frames by cutting the Daffodil Delight frame in 2 places and splice it back together under the Melon Mambo frame.   I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to secure the splices.

Faux Chalkboard Technique

I CASED this card from Jackie Bultje, a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator in Canada.  I loved her faux chalkboard technique done on Crumb Cake cardstock and had to duplicate it.  Now that I’ve done the first one, I’m anxious to try the technique on other colors of cardstock.

Stampin-Up-Good-Morning-Magnolia-Beautiful-Bouquet-Layering-Ovals-Framelits-happy-birthday-card-Debra-Simonis-Stampinup

Stamp Set – Good Morning Magnolia, Beautiful Bouquet
Cardstock – Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Gold Foil
Ink – Old Olive, Flirty Flamingo, White Craft
Accessories –  Embossing Buddy, Versamark, Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Aquapainter, Layering Ovals Framelits, Metallic Pearls, Sponge Dauber, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive

Faux Chalkboard Technique
  • Stamp images with Versamark and heat emboss with Gold Embossing Powder
  • Put some White Craft Ink on an acrylic block and use Aquapainter to color the flower
  • I wanted the flower to be more white so ended up using the water from the Aquapainter sparingly; just enough to make the White Craft Ink fluid enough to paint with
  • Color leaves with Aquapainter and Old Olive Ink
  • After white ink is dry, use Sponge Dauber to apply Flirty Flamingo ink to flower centers
