This card was a labor of love for my daughter who is presenting and defending her thesis this week for her PhD in Oceanography/Marine Biology. What an accomplishment for her! She is realizing the dream she had since she was about 8 years old – becoming a marine biologist who specializes in acoustic research of whales and dolphins!
The card is a bit more complicated that my usual clean and simple style but the occasion demanded something beyond the ordinary and I am please with how this turned out.
I even decorated the inside of the card more than I normally would with the matting, gift card pocket and then stamping on both of those pieces. The sentiment is from the retired stamp set, “Feel Goods”.
Since we are hand delivering this card, I was able to decorate the envelope more than usual. I stamped her name using using the “Brushwork Alphabet” stamp set.
Supplies Used
Stamp Set – Beautiful You, High Tide (“did it” from a Paper Pumpkin stamp set)
Cardstock – Pool Party, Early Espresso, Whisper White, Shimmer White
Ink – Archival Basic Black, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Old Olive, Soft Suede
Accessories – Aquapainter, Big Shot, Large Letters Framelits Dies, Pocket Framelits Dies, Tear & Tape, Snail Adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue
Stamping Tips
1) Stamp and color the Shimmer White panel before cutting out the letters. Set the letters aside.
2) Cut 2 additional sets of letters out of Thick Whisper White cardstock. Glue them one on top of the other and then glue them back into the openings on the Shimmer White panel. The third and top layer of letters are the ones that were cut from the Shinmer White panel after it was colored.
3) Tear & Tape was used to adhere the pocket inside the card.
I’ll be celebrating with my husband, daughter, her boyfriend, and our son and grandchildren in San Diego this weekend. My online store is open 24/7 so feel free to shop in your pajamas!
Thanks for stopping by. Happy Stamping!
